Social worker Jeffrey Watmough has been struck off the HCPC Register following a review of a suspension order originally imposed on 27 November 2014.
A panel of the HCPC Conduct and Competence Committee heard that Mr Watmough was originally suspended on the grounds of misconduct whilst employed with the Trafford North Community Mental Health Team at Trafford Council.
The Panel further heard that Mr Watmough’s failings related to a number of cases, including that of Service User DE who was a high risk vulnerable service user who Mr Watmough did not have face to face contact with for five months. Concerns were raised about Mr Watmough’s practice following the death of Service User DE.
Panel Chair David Clark commented:
“Mr Watmough has had the opportunity to demonstrate his willingness to take the necessary remedial steps, and has chosen a different course. The Panel concluded that a striking off order was the only proportionate sanction which would protect the public, and avoid unnecessary further cost to Mr Watmough and the regulator.”
The Panel directed for the name of Jeffrey Watmough to be struck from the HCPC Register.
Mr Watmough was neither present nor represented during the hearing.
