Paramedic, Richard Broughton, Struck Off on Grounds of Conviction

Richard Broughton has been struck off the HCPC Register on the grounds of conviction whilst registered as a paramedic with the HCPC.

HCPC - Health and Care Professions Council - Richard Broughton

A panel of the HCPC Conduct and Competence Committee heard that Mr Broughton was convicted at Durham Crown Court of making indecent photographs of a child, possessing an extreme pornographic image and possession of prohibited images of children.

The Panel further heard that Mr Broughton was sentenced to ten months’ imprisonment suspended for 24 months, and was placed on the Sexual Offenders Register for ten years.

“In those circumstances the Panel concluded that a striking off order was the only appropriate order. Such an order was necessary due to the seriousness of the convictions which had led to sentences of imprisonment, albeit suspended, for behaviour that was at the higher end of the scale of internet sexual activity.”

The Panel ordered for the name of Richard Broughton to be struck off the HCPC Register.

Mr Broughton was not present nor represented at the hearing.
