Lisa Jane Thorn (SW68086) has been struck off the HCPC Register on the grounds of misconduct whilst registered with the HCPC as a social worker and employed as manager of Woodlands Care Home in Wakefield.
A panel of the HCPTS heard that Mrs Thorn did not take adequate steps to protect service users from physical, psychological and financial abuse at Woodlands Care Home, a private residence for up to 19 adults with learning disabilities aged 18-65.
The Panel further heard that Mrs Thorn did not ensure appropriate management of service user’s money, did not ensure that provision of staff was adequate and did not ensure that service users received clinically appropriate treatment.
Panel Chair Stephane Pandit commented:
“Mrs Thorn had a fundamental and clear responsibility for the wellbeing and care of the service users. She failed in that responsibility, particularly in that she acted dishonestly towards the service users and failed to show any respect to them as individuals. Her behaviour showed a blatant disregard for the underpinning social work values of respect for the individual, honesty, integrity, and commitment to person-centred care.”
The Panel ordered for the name of Lisa Jane Thorn to be struck off the HCPC Register.
Ms Thorn was neither present nor represented at the hearing.
