Physiotherapist, Adel Abdel Razeq, Struck Off on Grounds of Misconduct

Adel Abdel Razeq has been struck off the HCPC Register on the grounds of misconduct whilst registered as a physiotherapist with the HCPC and working as a locum physiotherapist at Holbeach and East Elloe Hospital in Lincolnshire.

HCPTS - Health and Care Professions Tribunal Service - Adel Abdel Razeq

A panel of the HCPTS heard that during the course of treatment on Patient A Mr Razeq inserted one or two fingers into her vagina and touched her clitoris. He also stated to Patient A “you drive me crazy” or words to that effect.

The Panel also heard that Mr Razeq did not inform Patient A that the removal of her bra was unnecessary on two occasions.

Panel Chair Lesley White commented:

“Patient A had no experience of physiotherapy treatment, and Mr Razeq had taken advantage of his position of trust. In her evidence, she had described the impact of the situation on her. She had lost confidence in the NHS and had not been able to seek any further physiotherapy from a different physiotherapist because she did not want the same thing to happen again.”

The Panel ordered for the name of Adel Abdel Razeq to be struck off the HCPC Register.

Mr Razeq was neither present nor represented at the hearing.
