Paul N Manyara (SW30148) has been struck off the HCPC Register on the grounds of conviction whilst registered as a social worker with the HCPC.
A panel of the HCPTS heard that Mr Manyara was convicted at Liverpool Crown Court of dishonestly making false representation to make a gain for self / another or cause loss to other / expose other to risk.
The Panel further heard that Mr Manyara altered a reference from St Helens Metropolitan Borough Council which referred to disciplinary action taken against him when he worked for the council. The Panel heard he submitted the altered reference to Caritas recruitment in order to enhance his prospects of finding employment.
Panel Chair Clive Powell commented:
“The Panel concluded that the effect of Mr Manyara’s actions which constituted the offence put service users at unwarranted risk of harm. This is because the false reference which he submitted to the recruitment agency attested to abilities and a standard of work which he did not have. This was particularly serious in the context of his intention to work with vulnerable children and families.”
The Panel ordered for the name of Paul N Manyara to be struck off the HCPC Register.
Mr Manyara was present and represented himself at the hearing.
