A panel of the HCPTS heard that Mr Leach was convicted at the Crown Court at Sheffield of three counts of a person doing a private act. He was sentenced to 12 weeks imprisonment and will be subject to the notification requirements of the sex offenders register for seven years.

The Panel further heard that the matters came to light when Service User A, a young woman receiving treatment after a road traffic accident, noticed that she was being filmed during treatment on a concealed mobile phone.

Panel Chair Ian Comfort commented:

“Mr Leach’s offending was directly linked to his practice as a physiotherapist. It was serious and persisted over a long period. His offending was a gross breach of trust.”

The Panel ordered for the name of Paul A Leach to be struck off the HCPC Register.

Mr Leach was neither present nor represented at the hearing.
