HCPTS - Health and Care Professions Tribunal Service - Christopher M Higgins

A panel of the HCPTS heard that Mr Higgins did not ensure that adequate records were made in Patient Care Records or Patient Report Forms relating to the administering of morphine to a number of patients.

The Panel further heard that Mr Higgins did not record the disposal of morphine on the controlled drugs register in relation to a number of patients, and did not record the reason for administering high doses of morphine to a number of patients.

Panel Chair Lakshmi Ramakrishnan commented:

“The public would be very concerned that the case involved vulnerable patients who relied on Mr Higgins as a paramedic to accurately record and ensure the proper use of Class A drugs. His acts breached the trust placed in him.”

The Panel ordered for the name of Christopher M Higgins to be struck off the HCPC Register.

Mr Higgins was neither present nor represented at the hearing.
