A panel of the HCPTS heard that Miss Wangui was originally suspended for twelve months on the grounds of misconduct whilst employed by Hertfordshire County Council.

The Panel further heard that Miss Wangui’s failings included placing three children at risk by failing to undertake an adequate assessment of a person’s suitability to care for the children before placing them with him.

Panel Chair Ian Comfort commented:

“Members of the public would be extremely concerned to learn that a social worker responsible for vulnerable service users had failed to protect their interests, and this clearly had the potential to compromise their safety and wellbeing.”

The Panel ordered for the name of Mary Wangui to be struck off the HCPC Register.

Miss Wangui was neither present nor represented at the hearing.
