A panel of the HCPTS heard that Mr Mitchell breached professional boundaries by continuing contact with Patent A without clinical justification after exchanging personal numbers with her.

The Panel further heard that Mr Mitchell contacted Patient B, a potential domestic violence victim, by texting a picture of a book relating to domestic violence.

Panel Chair Maurice Cohen commented:

“Mr Mitchell’s conduct towards Patient A in sending her approximately 146 text messages and meeting with her was seriously detrimental to Patient A’s mental health. Mr Mitchell was also aware of the vulnerability of Patient B and failed to act professionally towards her.”

The Panel ordered for the name of Alan D Mitchell to be struck off the HCPC Register.

Mr Mitchell was present at the hearing and was represented by Sam Oestreicher of Unison.
