Gordon Jarvie (CH14060) has been struck off the HCPC Register on the grounds of misconduct whilst registered as a chiropodist / podiatrist with the HCPC.
A panel of the HCPTS heard that whilst practicing as an independent chiropodist / podiatrist at London Bridge Hospital Mr Jarvie charged Patient A1 for treatment which he did not perform. He also sent threatening and unprofessional emails to Patient A1’s daughter seeking payment of invoices.
The Panel further heard that during his employment as a podiatrist with the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board Mr Jarvie performed treatment, namely debridement, without clinical justification to do so. He also failed to gain patient consent in relation to the treatment provided.
Panel Chair Clive Powell commented:
“The Panel has found that Mr Jarvie’s failings were serious involving an abuse of trust, dishonesty and persistent failure. The Panel is of the view that the nature and scope of his failings and deep seated attitudinal concerns are such that they are incompatible with ongoing registration.”
The Panel ordered for the name of Gordon Jarvie to be struck off the HCPC Register.
Mr Jarvie was not present at the hearing, and was represented at the commencement of proceedings by Mr Richard Williams of Thompsons Solicitors.
