Valerie Abimbola Baiyewu (SW39076) has been struck off the HCPC Register on the grounds of conviction whilst registered as a social worker and employed by the London Borough of Merton.
A panel of the HCPTS heard that Mrs Baiyewu’s failings included assessing two service users on her caseload as having needs over and above those which they needed, in order to benefit herself.
The Panel further heard that Mrs Baiyewu and her partner rented a property and sub-let it to the two service users. Payments were then made to Mrs Baiyewu’s partner via a limited company which they had both set up.
Panel Chair Sadia Zouq commented:
“Mrs Baiyewu pled not guilty to the charges and was convicted following a jury trial. As there is no evidence of remorse and given the nature and severity of these offences involving dishonesty and an abuse of trust, the Panel is of the view that such serious conduct may not be capable of remediation.”
The Panel ordered for the name of Valerie Abimbola Baiyewu to be struck off the HCPC Register.
Mrs Baiyewu was neither present nor represented at the hearing.
