Social Worker, Jeanette Hamer, Struck Off on Grounds of Misconduct

Mrs Jeanette Hamer (SW91433) has been struck off the HCPC Register on the grounds of misconduct whilst registered as a Social Worker and employed by Northamptonshire County Council.

HCPTS - Health and Care Professions Tribunal Service - Jeanette Hamer

A panel of the HCPTS heard that Mrs Hamer’s failings included failing to make appropriate visits to service users within statutory timescales, not completing or recording case files and working as a Social Worker between 2006 and 2013 without being registered with the appropriate Social Work Regulator.

The Panel further heard that Mrs Hamer had been responsible for Service User A. Upon becoming aware that the service user had placed a ligature around his neck with a view to ending his life, Mrs Hamer failed to visit him in a timely manner or inform her manager of the immediate risks to the service user’s safety and welfare.

Panel Chair Sarah Baalham commented:

“The Registrant’s misconduct was serious and despite several opportunities to remediate, she had chosen not to engage with the regulatory process. The panel’s decision to issue a Striking Off Order was made on the basis of public protection and to uphold the wider public interest.”

The Panel ordered for the name of Jeanette Hamer to be struck off the HCPC Register.

Mrs Hamer was neither present nor represented at the hearing.
