Biomedical Scientist Suspended after Attending Work under the Influence of Alcohol

Biomedical scientist Tracey E Daniel has been suspended from the HCPC Register for 12 months on grounds of misconduct after attending work under the influence of alcohol on three occasions whilst employed by the Isle of Wight NHS Trust.

A panel of the HCPC Conduct and Competence Committee heard that on 3 January 2012, several members of staff reported that Miss Daniel had presented for work in an unfit state. Similar concerns were noted on 9 January. The informal stage of the capability procedure was initiated and objectives were put in place.

The Panel further heard that on 6 June 2012 Miss Daniel presented for work in an unfit state. Following formal capability proceedings and a capability hearing held on 4 June 2013, Miss Daniel was dismissed from her position at the Trust.
