Dietitian Mrs Madhu Sharma Biggs has been struck off the HCPC Register for incompetence.
This was a second review of a suspension order from 11 August 2013 last reviewed on 11 July 2014 when a further 12 month suspension order was imposed.
A panel of the HCPC Conduct and Competence Committee heard that matters proved against Mrs Sharma concerned basic elements of safe practice as a dietitian and serious errors of clinical judgement. These include prescribing intravenous pabrinex for a patient at risk of refeeding syndrome and prescribing inappropriate oral nutritional supplements for a patient with high output ileostomy.
The Panel further heard that Mrs Sharma provided no evidence of any improvement in her ability to practise safely and had indicated an intention not to practice as a dietitian at any time in the future.
