The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) is seeking views on draft revised guidance on our requirements for returning to practice.
Our returning to practice requirements help to ensure that registrants who have been out of practice for more than two years, and wish to return, update their knowledge and skills in order to resume safe and effective practice. We produce guidance to help people who have taken a break from practising, or are considering doing so, to understand our requirements.
The guidance was last published in 2006 and we have proposed changes to make sure it is up to date and continues to be clear and helpful. We are not proposing to change the requirements themselves at this point.
We are launching a public consultation on the draft guidance today, which will run for 12 weeks. This consultation will be of particular interest to registrants who have or are considering taking a break from practising, as well as those who employ or supervise professionals who have recently returned to practice.
The closing date for responses is Friday 7 October 2016. We look forward to receiving your feedback.
