Biomedical scientist Tracey E Daniel has been struck off the HCPC Register after attending work under the influence of alcohol whilst employed at the Isle of Wight NHS Trust.
A panel of the HCPC Conduct and Competence Committee heard that Miss Daniel presented for work in an unfit state on three separate occasions: 3 January 2012, 9 January 2012 and on 6 June 2012. This then resulted with the progression of a formal capability procedure.
The Panel further heard after failing to meet her objectives regarding her attendance at work and on-going concerns about whether she would be in a fit position to safely return, Miss Daniel was dismissed and subsequent referred to the HCPC.
Panel Chair Lesley White commented:
“The Panel is concerned to note the continuing lack of engagement by Miss Daniel. It notes that there is no evidence of any insight nor remorse by Miss Daniel. Significantly, the Panel note that, despite clear and helpful suggestions form the Panel at the final Hearing, in the 12 month period of suspension Miss Daniel has provided nothing to the panel to indicate any remediation or any interest in returning to practice”.
The Panel concluded that the appropriate and proportionate sanction is a striking off order.
Miss Tracey E Daniel was not present and not represented at the hearing.
