Radiographer Wilson Thomas has been struck off the HCPC Register following a second review of a 2014 substantive suspension resulting from lack of competence.
A panel of the HCPC Conduct and Competence Committee heard that Mr Thomas achieved a score of just 8% in a combination of radiographic tests and demonstrated extremely limited knowledge of radiography during an interview for a Band 5 position at Leighton Hospital.
The Panel further heard that Mr Thomas was asked to undertake a test of competence, which demonstrated that his knowledge and skills were rated well below the level of a first year Radiography student.
Panel Chair Gill Madden commented:
“The Panel adopts the finding of the previous Panel that the wide ranging deficiencies on Mr Thomas’ core competencies represent a risk to patients and the wider public, and that his lack of clinical competence constitutes a dangerous practitioner.”
The Panel concluded that by failing to engage in the regulatory process Mr Thomas’ fitness to practise remains impaired and that a Striking Off order is the necessary and proportionate sanction.
Mr Wilson Thomas was neither present nor represented at the hearing.
