Social worker Ian Ralph Ashton has been struck off the HCPC Register following a review of a 2015 suspension on grounds of misconduct whilst employed with the London Borough of Waltham Forest.

HCPC - Health and Care Professions Council - Ian Ralph Ashton

A panel of the HCPC Conduct and Competence Committee conducted a review of Mr Ashton’s suspension from the Register imposed for nine months on 8 October 2015.

Mr Ashton was originally suspended after his continuing failure to take appropriate and timely action to progress Children in Need referrals including failing to identify the case of Child A as urgent when the significant risk factors should have been clear to him.

Panel Chair Brian Wroe commented:

“There was no evidence placed before the Panel today of any remediation or insight and the Panel could only conclude that there remained a likelihood of repetition of Mr Ashton’s failings. Accordingly, Mr Ashton remains a risk to the public if permitted to practice as a Social Worker unrestricted. ”

The Panel instructed to strike the name of Ian Ralph Ashton off the HCPC Register.

Mr Ian Ralph Ashton was neither present nor represented at the hearing.
