Doreen Munsanda Mudenda (SW77490) has been struck off the HCPC Register on the grounds of conviction whilst registered as a social worker with the HCPC.
A panel of the HCPTS heard that Ms Mudenda was convicted at Lewes Crown Court of two counts of dishonestly failing to notify change of circumstances affecting entitlement to social security benefit. She was sentenced to 10 months imprisonment suspended for 12 months.
The Panel further heard that Ms Mudenda’s charges stemmed from her unnecessarily obtaining Disability Living Allowance for a period of twelve years, fraudulently obtaining £58,963.50 over this period.
Panel Chair Penny Griffith commented:
“The Panel is of the view that given the nature of Ms Mudenda’s conviction, it is incompatible with ongoing registration, in that members of the public would have serious concerns if a registered social worker who was in a position of trust were able to return to practise with a conviction of this nature.”
The Panel ordered for the name of Doreen Munsanda Mudenda to be struck off the register.
Ms Mudenda was present at the hearing and represented by Ms Coral Fitzgerald, solicitor.
