A panel of the HCPTS heard that Mrs Stidwill was originally suspended for six months on the grounds of misconduct whilst employed as a social worker with Staffordshire County Council.

The Panel further heard that Mrs Stidwill’s failings included not contacting a service user after he text her telephone number whilst she was on leave indicating that he was feeling suicidal. She also failed to check that another member of staff had received the message, after sending it to the office.

Panel Chair Sarah Hamilton commented:

“There was no evidence before the Panel that Mrs Stidwill appreciates the gravity of the failings identified. There was also no explanation as to how she would behave differently in the future.”

The Panel ordered for the name of Pauline Stidwill to be struck off the HCPC Register.

Miss Stidwill was neither present nor represented at the hearing.
