A panel of the HCPTS heard that Miss Gibson’s failings included working while working under the influence of or smelling of alcohol, and of exposing patients to higher amounts of radiation than was required.

The Panel further heard that Miss Gibson took an x-ray of Patient A’s wrong hip, and of making numerous technical errors whilst x-raying Patient C.

Panel Chair Andrew Gell commented:

“Multiple acts of misconduct involved unwarranted risk of harm to patients by over-exposure to radiation. The Panel determined that taking no action or issuing a caution would be wholly insufficient to achieve either the protection of the public or to promote and maintain confidence in the profession or uphold and declare proper standards of conduct for the profession.”

The Panel ordered for the name of Kate E. Gibson to be struck off the HCPC Register.

Miss Gibson was neither present nor represented at the hearing.
